OK I know there are many book lists out there, but my 7yo says she "can't read" she says she "sounds things out or she just knows them"... what I do, what you do, what everyone who reads does.. you either know a word or you sound it out..LOL

Anyway, are there any books that a total girly girl can read on her own with out KNOWING she's reading??

What does she love? That seems to be key around here. I have one struggling reader who's horse crazy and so will read books about horses happily that would otherwise be "too young".

My children have done quite well with collections of comic strips when they are at the point of reading independently.

Calvin and Hobbes has been the hands-on favorite but Rose is Rose is a 'girlier' comic strip which has also been greatly enjoy.

Otherwise I'd hunt for fairytale picture books and the like. Books which can be enjoyed purely for the pictures and also have language at the level which she should be able to read.
