Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As I come across misspelled words in my 3rd grader's work, I have a hard time remembering which words have been covered in spelling (we use CHC's spellers). I don't want to harp on words that he shouldn't know yet, but I do want to catch the ones he should. How do you keep track of your spelling lists over the years? Are there any great tricks to keeping a record of what's been covered that is easy to access later on?

For that matter, how do you handle words that your students have learned but are now misspelling in their other work?

I like to make flash cards for the words that they misspell. We keep those in a little card file (one file for each kid) and when they are consistently spelling the word correctly, I remove the card. It's sort of an ongoing system, and I can't remember where I learned this, but it works pretty well!

Another idea is to create their own dictionary. I purchased each of my children a little address book. The ones with tabs running down with each letter of the alphabet but blank pages inside. Some come with the words; Name, address etc. You want the blank ones, a little harder to find. I get my children to record their words in there so they can easily refer too.
