Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Laura,
We are using the Grade 2 book this first quarter for grammar review. We are using the writing segments and finding them helpful, not too much work and easy to follow. We had a very hard time finding time for writing the past two years. Our very very very very very active toddler really didn't allow for me to sit with my ds and do many narrations and writing projects. I find Voyages a good fit for us. I am hoping to finish the book and move on to another curriculum the new year (Jan.). Any other specific questions? I use only the student book which I purchased very reasonably from Rainbow Resource.

Hi Cactus Mouse,
You state that the Voyages in English is pricey, so I am assuming this is the updated secular versions? I use the older Catholic reprints from Lepanto Press (Our Lady of Victory/ Kolbe Academy). I find them to follow a classical type order and to be very thorough. They are designed for a classroom which is a bit annoying but can easily be skipped those lessons that require a class. If you want grammar and composition in a classical trivium type format that is formal, then you might like these older series.

We've been using the Grade 2 VIE book last year and just finishing up this year. I like it - you definitely do not need the teacher's book and the student books are not too expensive. I've also used the Grade 8 VIE in the older version and loved that as well but felt like my younger kids would do better with the workbook style and color pictures. I'm getting ready to order Grade 3 soon.
