Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

DS will be 6 in November. We completed 100EZ lessons last winter. He has been reading the Faith and Freedom 1st grade books from Seton. We are on the last one now.

I am looking for recommendations on other quality books for him to read. I'm not ready to move him up to the 2nd grade level FF readers. He needs more practice at the lower level, I think.

Thank you!

I love the Brand New Readers series and the Now I'M Reading Series. I have links on this blog post

If he is too advanced for these there are many many Easy Readers at the library - Step into Reading, DK Readers, Scholastic Readers, Dr Seuss I can Read it Myself etc etc

My little guy has had a break over the summer so we are going over Little Angel Readers, Bob Books and Brand New Readers before moving to anything harder.

Bumping this very old thread.

My oldest kind of skipped the beginning readers, but my second has discovered the world of Henry and Mudge! Delightful! They have given him much confidence in reading.

We just bought Melissa Wiley's new Inch and Roly readers, and They are delightful! We also anticipate getting her book Fox and Crow are Not Friends when my struggling reader has advanced a little more.

Gus and Grandpa is another good series, and very boy friendly.

We loved the stories about Grandpa teaching Gus to ride a bike and the two of them baking Christmas cookies, which was funny.
