Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My rising 1st grader made it through about 2/3 of Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons during his kindergarten year, so I plan to continue with it in the fall. But what do you use after finishing 100 Easy?

Explode the Code?
Sound Beginnings?
All About Spelling?
Plaid Phonics?
other?

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sound Beginnings is good, and a nice step forward because it incorporates the writing element for children.

You may want to slow that part down, depending on how well your child handles writing.

We generally just read, read, read for awhile after that until they are ready for Explode the Code. I can't believe we're getting ready to start this process for the fifth time!

We finished 100 ez lessons last year. We then started reading some of the readers from Seton. We're going to continue the Seton readers and start the plaid phonics (mcp) this fall.

We go from reading instruction to All About Spelling. All About Spelling also has a new Level 1 Reader, which is very good. My children really like it a lot. We also read from the Little Angel Readers, or any other beginning reader book. My kids who like workbooks will do some Explode the Code to re-enforce the phonograms learned in All About Spelling. Kids who don't like workbooks can just do All About Spelling.

God bless,
Christine

After using 100 EZ Lessons, our children read. We also like plaid phonics and Explode the code. I always wanted to try sound beginnings but never have.(I didn't want to spend the money.) Anyhow...all of our children read really well.

I did make flash cards of the phonograms from 100 EZ lessons and reviewed those for a while.
