Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What do you use and what do you like about it?

Cecilia did CHC's Language of God for 5th, but she did not like it at all. This past year she did Stories With A View and she finished it in 6 months. She did Intermediate Language Lessons the other half of the year and did very well.

I need ideas for 7th grade. Thanks.

We used Intermediate Lang. Lessons for 5th and parts of 6th, and I chose Lingua Mater: Language Lessons through Literature by Margot Davis for 7th. It has a similar approach and has been well-received by my son. However, had we not had Easy Grammar last year, this would have been more of a challenge because this book doesn't provide the repetition he needed to help some of the difficult concepts to sink in. Hope this helps.

Easy Grammar or Winston Grammar or Analytical Grammar? Or check out Elizabeth's Serendipity LA plans? I like all the ones I mentioned much better that the traditional ones like Voyages/SEton/Rod and Staff.

Abby is doing Easy Grammar Plus - I have a schedule I have come up with if you go with this. (the books are also VERY cheap right now)

We used Winston Grammar Basic last year with my 6th and 7th graders. They loved it and retained a lot. This year we're using Winston Grammar Wordworks and will continue with Winston Grammar Advanced after that (a 2 year program). We also learn Latin and use IEW for writing. For us it really rounds out Language Arts quite well.

Hope that helps!

Ruth, Sydney is doing Lingua Mater, IEW with Bible-based Writing Lessons and Stories with a view. I am really considering Analytical Grammar for Benjamin, but I hate to spend the money. I bought the Accelerated Achievement curriculum which uses a grammar book from the late 1900s. It looks pretty meaty and yet very straightforward.

Can anyone review Analytical Grammar?

Kristie - I would be happy to email you my plan (only 14 weeks so far) - just a caution though, I have sent it and discussed it with someone else on this list who has made me wonder if it is too ambitious - I loaded it heavily at the front as I figured it was review. I am going to do a little trial run with dd (though school does not start for us until September) just to check if I need to revamp it. Just pm me your email and I will send it.

Also note - I may have a different version of Plus - but my schedule has topics - so though page numbers do not match topics will.
