Anne,
I bought the Spelling Wisdom book from Simply Charlotte Mason. It has selections from different books ready for the kids to copy. I have found it very useful.
Spelling Wisdom
Hope this helps,
Natalia

I take the daily collect from Catholic Culture. Sometimes I split it up for two days worth.

I relly like their copy books. I haven't bought anything from them yet, but I am planning to buy a couple for my kids this year.

Why not just have her copy a sample from her reading book? That will be a passage that she is already sort of familiar with, and it will give her a chance to really LOOK at the details of spelling and punctuation. Plus since you already have whatever book she is reading - it's economical!

Getting my son to write is like pulling teeth so this year, I will be pulling sentences from his interests...mainly star wars.
He has a large number of star wars books, so I plan on just pulling a sentence or two from the books. I hope that this will get him into the routine and then I can start using more quality quotes and passages.

I remember another mom was using Startwrite and using quotes from her favorite Saints. I think that was the best idea ever.

Is there a book with a collection of saint quotes that anybody can recommend. Sometimes it's not easy to pull gems out of books.

I am really really into quotes and find many at brainy quote I'm really really into Thomas Merton right now I also love Oscar Romero too Momma T and the Dali lama chief Dan george etc. alos proverbs are so nice . I took some prov. from wall plaques of my grandmothers for the boys this summer.
I post our copywork on our blog plus vocab from the story we are reading along with a nature study plant / animal for the week .
copywork is what saved my ds handwriting . He is now 18yo but his writing was terrible until we focused on copywork .
Have fun Lov Rox

Thank you for all the ideas! (I've been out of town and out of the loop! )
I like the idea of taking things from his reading and keeping it with things that he's interested in-- maybe I'll mix it up a bit with things he's reading, what we're reading to him, what he's interested in (yep, Star Wars!) and some Bible verses (short and sweet!).
