Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This year will be my first year using Easy Grammar with my 6th grader. I discovered the program last year and done it with my 2nd grader. I wish I knew about when I first started homeschooling.
Anyway .... I just received the Easy Grammar 6 and wondering how do you fit everything in one school year? How much of the book you have your kids do in a day?
Also, do you suggest using Daily Grammas as well?

Thanks,
Simona

I will be using Easy Grammar 4/5 and Easy Grammar Plus this year. It is a mastery system - I am writing a weekly plan for the books - generally one concept per day and we will do it 3 times a week I think. I will not be doing the Daily Grams as I prefer to spend LA time on dictation, poetry etc

I ended up buying the student workbooks to save photocopying - I got a real deal - I had called the company to find out how to use the books - and she told me that if I bought the public school version (exactly the same as homeschool but they could not use brand names in the examples and they had to use a variety of ethnic names) there was a big sale - so I go 3 student books and one textbook (a friend had already given me easy grammer plus) for $29!!!

I would be happy to e-mail you one of my Easy Grammar schedules once I am done (still waiting for books to arrive)

We are also using the Ruth Heller books to supplement - everyone loves them in our house - and even my grammar challenged boys remember adjectives when they read "lovely luscious lollipops!"

Marilyn,

I would be interested in your plan when you finish it. I have Easy Grammar Plus also, and I have never used it before. (I will be using it with my 8th grader.) What are the Ruth Heller books? Could you let me know more about them? Also, I do not have Daily Grams. I noticed you are not using them, but I wondered what you thought about them? That is neat about the extra workbooks for the school system. I didn't realize I might have to photcopy something. I have several books that I will have to end up photocopying this year. I don't want another one! I thought I could just have him write it out on looseleaf or in a notebook?? Am I incorrect for some reason? Thanks!

Thanks Marilyn,
I would like to see how your schadule will look like.
Let me know if you need my personal e-mail.

I was thinking about using the Ruth Heller books as well after reading the Serendipity lively Language Arts post. It will be a fun introduction to grammar to my 1st and 3rd grader. And I know my ds (6th grader) will enjoy listening to the stories.

I have the plans for the first 14 weeks for Easy Grammar Plus (not yet done my Grade 4 plans) - if you pm me your emails I can email you my Excel spreadsheet.

I think the Daily Grams are good for daily reinforcement - I just do not have the time for any more grammar, as we do some poetry memorization and dictation too.

Butting in:

I went ahead and ordered the teacher books AND student workbooks. Was that a good idea for the first timer?

We will do EG 3 and 5 this year, at some pace.

I have both too - and in the case of the twins I have a workbook for each - I just do not want to be photocopying constantly.

I am still pleased with my bargain - I just received them today!
