Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am getting ready to order this for my 10yo ds for next year. I have read in various places that just using the flash cards would be as effective as ordeirng the whole book. I'm wondering if anyone can give me a more clear explanation of why this might be so. I don't want to order have it. Input anyone?

The book has pronunciation which the cards don't.

Both list the meaning of the root, whether it is from Latin or Greek, and multiple words that come from the root.

Sometimes the book will have a small paragraph discussing something of interest that is related--like how the months got their names on the "decem" page.

The book has some general teaching ideas, but nothing like a lesson plan or even specific instruction on how to use the program (that I recall at the moment, but I can go check).

We read the back of the cards together and then practiced memorizing them in groups of 5 or ten for about 5 minutes a day and had memorized the first 100 by the end of the school year.
