Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am trying to use materials off of my shelf as much as possible this year. While I was pulling things off, I noticed PLL and ILL that I had purchased years ago when I had the kids in MODG. I think they would be a perfect fit for my 2nd and 4th grader respectively. I really want to get them writing more instead of filling in workbook pages. I think these would work well. I noticed there are new PLL and ILL books availible, but I would not be able to invest in them now. I happened to find "lesson plans" for PLL in an old MODG planner. Now, I just need lesson plans for ILL. Anyone know where I could get lesson plans?

I also seem to recall that I would sometimes not really know how to teach the lesson or what they wanted due to the archaic nature of the book. Perhaps my teaching skills have improved since then, but I did think a guide would be helpful. What do the new versions contain?

There is no lesson plan IN the new versions. There is an answer key available to download for free, though. It doesn't match your old version exactly, but it's pretty close for grades 4 and 5.

I don't think lesson plans are necessary for this book. For your 4th grader, the first 100 lessons are geared for that age group. I do one of two things...I either flip through the entire book over the summer in one sitting, making a note of the lessons I feel are archaic or unnecessary for the child, and then tentatively schedule them over 30 weeks. Or, I flip through the book on Sunday afternoons and pick the 4 lessons I want the child to do that week. Sometimes the lessons require more than one day (mostly the composition ones), so might only schedule 2 lessons that week. Really, its easy to use and to get through each section within a year. Its not a program that requires intensive scheduling.

hope this helps!

Margot, I am using the new ones this fall...they look gorgeous. Thanks for the answer key link!
