Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

but aren't ready? My dd is 6 1/2. She wants to learn to read but she is having trouble learning her phonograms. Actually, she knows most of them in isolation, but when she tries to blend them into a word, she forgets them and says something completely different. I read to her alot, we memorize poetry, play rhyming games, etc. What else can we do? She doesn't want to hear she is not ready.

Lisa,

I also use WRTR for teaching reading.........but for blending, the best for my kids has been 100 Easy lessons.

I teach them the phonograms at the same time as EZ lessons.....EZ does a great job of showing and teaching how the blending works.

I was actually able to borrow a copy from our library.

I am starting up this week, I hope with my little guy who turned 6 last Sat.

One of my dc took TWO years to finally have the 26 phonograms down.......and one of Robynn's kids had the same experience. EZ lessons kept us going SOMEWHERE, while I waited for her to be ready to hook up with the other phonograms.

To make it less stressful for her, I often would do half a lesson at a time, one or two halves a day.......once we got to the longer lessons. OH, and read a picture book to them at the end of each lesson.

Just an option that we have done here....

I have no clue if you would find this useful at all, but I just made a lapbook for my son. It's for sounds such as /pl/ and /sh/ and /tr/, etc.

It may frustrate her or she may love it.
