Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Today instead of our 2 Cardinal couples we had 4 males and 8 females. That flock added to the 4 Blue Jays, and handfuls of other birds--it was a visual feast.
I have never seen so many Cardinals at once.
Is this a breeding behavior?
The Cardinals are so vibrant, especially in the hazy , falling snow.

Paul just mentioned that "the birds that make that sound" are all over the place. He means cardinals , and they are making mating calls. I find much bigger flocks as spring comes in. One afternoon last spring, we watched a male chase some females around and around until they were all exhausted, singing his song the whole time. Whew!!

We've seen an uptick in the cardinals, too! They are beautiful in the snow. I also love how they come in at dusk, just as the sun is going down.

This was a good thought, Annie! Cardinals are bright red birds named after the red cloaks worn by Cardinals.

We have them all over here, although a flock would be an incredible sight. Here are some images and information.

Dawn recently posted the most incredible shot of a cardinal in her Mary Feeder: Valentine's Morning.

How beautiful! Thank you for sharing those pictures for me, Alice. Dawn's picture with the statue of Our Lady was exquisite!

They are APTLY named!
