It's still winter here in New England, and I'm torn between enjoying these cold blustery days, the gray skies and drab landscape ... they do inspire huddled days by the fire, walks in the wind, hot soup and toasted cheese sandwiches ... and yet ... I'm seriously craving some signs of spring!!
So I ask you, what signs of life are you seeing? Are you still buried in snow, or like Jennifer, enjoying the loveliness of spring? Or perhaps somewhere in between?

Spring is definitely in the air here. The trees are budding, the wasps are emerging, the spring allergies are raging. (We live in one of the highest spring-allergy-problem places in the country -- no kidding.)Still, we are thoroughly enjoying it while we can. Too soon it will be hot and muggy and completely intolerable.

Well, the robins are back and the bluebirds are house-hunting. I saw one groundhog up in a field, but our backyard resident guy ("The General") has yet to show his face. The woods have the very faintest green mist as the invasive vines are starting to get ready to ... invade.
I wonder how it will be to "spring ahead" in time this weekend -- so much earlier than usual?

Snow (about 4 inches of lovely powder!) on the ground, but I did see a robin two days ago! I don't see a thing budding and didn't get a chance to peek at my garden for tips of crocuses before the snow fell.
I am starting to get the "spring" anticipation!

Spring has definitely sprung here. Though the local wisdom is not to plant frost-sensitive plants until mothers day, daffodils are blooming, Robins are bopping, kids are wading in the creek.

It is so funny hearing you all talk of robins. You know spring is really here when the robins leave our area and we consistently hit the 80's. We have robins all winter. They will soon be gone, back up North to you all.
I envy you all with the four seasons and changes in weather. I grew up in Binghamton, NY until I was 12 and then we moved to Fl. I miss the beautiful changes in the weather. My poor children have never seen snow. I show them some of the pictures on your blogs and they are in awe of the snow!!

We are definitely still buried in several inches of snow here. I never really consider it "real" spring in Wisconsin until April. 
Although I do enjoy winter, I am very ready for spring this year.

Our bulbs are out!!! Not blooming yet, but you can see an inch or so of green.

Expecting another 2-4 inches of snow today. I just removed all the snow gear from the back door. Guess it's coming out again.

Yes! Iris and daf's coming up just barely and tons of birds everywhere!!  It was 62 degrees and sunny here yesterday!

I just looked at the areas of ground where I remember our crocus and daffodils come up. We got nothin'. 
My mum said her daffodils were coming up back in December when we were having a long stretch of mild weather. Now of course they're gone. I wonder if it will affect their blooming this spring?
What we *do* have are robins hopping here and there, lots of new birdsong and that dripping sound of all the snow and ice melting.
Happily we should be in the 50s over the weekend - it might not sound too warm, but it will melt more snow!

Beautiful and sunny - 60+ degrees right now. Though not a lot of green anywhere. The snow is finally mostly melted (still sticking around in the shady areas). Not a lot of birds yet though. We have seen the geese flying back and also one Great Blue Heron flew by last week - that's a sure sign of spring.
But March and April are the snowiest months in Colorado so I'm sure we'll get hit again. Spring is wild here that way - snow one day 60 degrees the next.

After the very late arrival of winter in these parts, I feel ungrateful wishing for signs of spring. We wished so hard for snow and sledding and ice skating, but it's March already and I'm ready for at least a hint of spring. However, there's no sign at all. We ice skated yesterday, and it snowed last night.

we should still have snow (and I LIKE winter so missing it with so little real winter weather this year) and now we're having days in the 50's and just today I noticed shoots coming up in the front flower bed.

We were all so excited today when we saw our local Carolina Wrens that build their nest in a corner outside of our school room! We were so excited that we may have scared it away! (oops!) Last week we had a bunch of Cedar Waxwings in one of our huge trees. We were on our way out, but my husband stopped the van because there were so many birds in that tree. After watching for a few minutes, I noticed the bright yellow stripe on their back feathers.
We have also been seeing all kinds of buds and the daffodils are out and blooming. The cat caught a snake today and a mole. I had to pick him up off of the snake so we could look at it. Greedy cat  We are so excited about it all.

Dawn, the weather is wild here. One day (Saturday) the yard was flooded, and the children were outside in shirtsleeves enjoying the "spring" weather and watching red-winged blackbirds in the feeder. The next, yard was dry as a bone, but frozen solid. Today, it snowed like mad, and we saw a fox skittering through the snow, presumably in search of a meal.
We do not know what to think!

We have a lovely coating of fresh snow!! Only a couple of inches, the rest melted away finally!!! I am reay for spring and gardening
