Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is he looking for a field guide, or a story (living book)? Either way, I think I can help you .

Oh, thank you! Thank you!

I tend to spoil him at Christmas (the only time his Mom lets me) so anything you suggest would be great. I think he would like both living and field guide.

Thank you again!!

not macbeth, but my 8 yr old loves birds. is your nephew in IL? if so, stan tekiela makes a bird book for every state. we have two and they are much loved. my son also loves the boy who drew birds

you might consider getting him an oriole feeder or suet feeders for the winter.

now i will sit back and take notes when macbeth posts!

Our family's favorite bird books are The Burgess Bird Book for Children along with this great field guide. We actually have the one for Texas, but there are different regional ones available. The naturalist at our Wild Bird Center recommended it and we love, love, love it!

I like Burgess, too. If he likes more "grown up" fare, he might like Petersons or maybe Petersons First Guide.

For stories, I have a quite a few on my Autumn page. Some are easier than others, but all are fine for any age, perhaps as a read-aloud. Handfeeding Backyard Birds is a perennial favorite here, and great fun.

This is all so wonderful....thank you to everyone.

MacBeth, when I posted I was so hoping you would respond.

He will be thrilled to know the 4Real Moms helped with his gift. He is all about the forum since I gather so many ideas here for his CCD class.

He is also in love with Alice since her Lenten teas.

Thanks again to everyone!

Happy shopping!!!!
