Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was outside pruning today and we have this huge grapevine. The grapes were actually quite delicious at their peak, though they had huge seeds. I just had this crazy thought, I wonder if you could make wine? Wouldn't that be a cool homeschool experiment???

Does anyone know if you can do that, on a very small scale at home, just as an experiment? Of course, it's not the right season now, but if I wait to ask I think I'd forget!

My Italian grandfather did it in his bathtub in New York City!
Therefore, it must be possible.
I actually have an old wine press we found in the basement of our home when we bought it and have plans to use it someday.I find winemaking a romantic idea.

Look it up on the web, my brother found his beer brewing kit online (he, thankfully, has found another interest!)

My great grandfather used to make wine out of wild mustang grapes (in Texas). I remember all the stories about it as I was growing up although I never tasted the wine!

I know that you can buy beer making supplies on the web. I've seen it when purchasing supplies for making herbal vinegars and homemade root beer. I bet you can find wine making supplies as well.

Good luck. It sounds like a wonderful adventure.

I live in winemaking country, and everyone seems to be making wine out of something. A couple of years ago a friend tried to convince me to make wine from the overabundance of Italian prunes we get from our huge tree. I've never done it, but I am sure it can be done.
