Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

On Wednesday my ds7 spied a bizarre looking grasshopper - he was all greenish and black stripey and had vibrant red legs (interior side). We found a smaller one missing a back leg yesterday as well.

I've never seen one like these! I posted a picture at my blog (it's actually in my St. Francis post - scroll down a bit and there's the grasshopper).

Has anyone seen one like this before, or can you tell us what kind it is? Thanks!

Dawn, what an interesting grasshopper. I found a section of "red-legged" grasshoppers at this site: it has great descriptions - maybe one it yours??

(Once again I apologize for not knowing how to link - I think I will ask dh to teach me this weekend.)

I've heard of something called a "painted grasshopper," but have no time to look it up now. I wonder if that could be what you found.

Once again, great post on St. Francis!!!
