I am in shock, Australia's Crocodile Man has died doing what he loved, maybe his shows were played in the States? Here is the sad news.
He was such a lovely and genuine man and a very strong family man too. He has given so much to the enjoyment and wonder of God's creation - we pass his zoo quite often - he was 1/2 hour's drive from our home in the state of Queensland. His poor young family!
"Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace. Amen."

Oh my goodness, Anne! I can't imagine how I'm going to tell my Stephen...I really can't. If I keep the TV and the radio off maybe I can wait until his Daddy gets home. What a tragic loss for all of us and especially for you in Australia. He was an icon here. I can only imagine what he was there.

Anne, I just saw this sad news now as I started up the computer. We have always loved his shows, his personality and his passion for animals and the environment. He will be greatly missed.
Praying today for Steve Irwin, his wife Terri and young children Bindi Sue and Bob. My heart just breaks for them all.

Maybe I am very laid back too, but I remember feeling sorry for him when he had Bob tucked under his arm in the crocodile pen and he copped an extreme lot of flak over it. I just thought he loves his child, he knows what he can or can't do in those situations - but tonight listing to his replayed footage when someone asked what would have happened if he had fallen over and he went on about that it would have only have happened if a meteorite had hit the earth and caused an earthquake under his feet registering 6.6 on the Richter scale, or something to that effect, in a way only he could say it.
This is what Terri had said of their marriage:
"We don't drink, we don't smoke, and we are actually in love and happily married. We love our little girl, we go home to each other at night, and we believe in what we are doing,"
That is saying something in this world of celebraties and lives of excess.

I don't know what would be very meaningful to your boy Stephen and others, but I am more than happy to pm my address, if you would like something dropped in personally to his Zoo, (drawing, letter etc.) We go past quite often, I could place it on his enormous wooden carved Crocodile out the front and take a photograph,(we have digital so it is real easy) and email it back or anything of that nature that you think would be very special in their eyes, that could be very tangible!

Oh my. My Aaron will be heartbroken. He plays Crocodile Hunter, even asked me to buy him the right colored shorts and shirt to look just like Steve.
Anne, I will PM you.

It is truly sad. The news said a little bit ago that his wife Terri does not know yet. She is hiking in Tasmania and they have been unable to get the news to her. I cannot imagine the heartache of finding out that everybody in the wrold knew before you and that you could not be there with him. Prayers for them all....

I cannot believe how sad I am over this. I was up for hours last night after I heard the news. Odd how TV makes us feel so close. RIP, Steve. Praying for his family.

I believe it. You were the first person I thought of after my Stephen. I knew this was going to hit you very hard.

Anne, this is so generous of you to offer. Are you sure it would be no trouble?
I just told my boys and they are so sad. (It's been a week for sadness around here. ) I don't know what to do with them to help them process this (besides pray of course). We thought maybe coloring pictures of our favorite animals and writing a letter to Steve or the Irwin family on the back.
Anne, I will send you a PM. Thank you again for your offer.

I tried to get on the Austrailia Zoo website but it isn't working. It is probably overwhelmed with traffic.
I did however find an address to send messages via snail mail:
Australia Zoo
Glasshouse Mountains Tourist Rte
Beerwah, Queensland 4519
Australia
I can't believe how much this has affected me. I have scarcely been able to get the words out to tell my dh and kids. I am so sad for his family. He has two young children doesn't he?
One blessing his kids will have as they grow is videos of their dad. They will always be able to remember him and what he was like.
Praying for Terri and the children!
Blessings,
Krisann

We are still in shock and tears here. He was our all-time favorite. My ds has taken it very, very hard. I don't even know how to comfort him on this one except to say that at least Steve died doing what he loved. What a terrible loss for us all, but most especially Terri and the children.

To all of our Australian friends, we mourn with you. The Crocodile Hunter was very big over here, a household name, with shows on Animal Planet and popular merchandise.
This was my 8yo Kate's reaction, "He never said anything bad to the animals, Mom. He always tried to make them feel okay."
Steve made us smile and he did have a gift with animals. We will pray for mercy on his soul. I am most sad for his beautiful family. I admit (and forgive me) I am upset at Steve for being involved in such risky situations when he had a wife and children depending on him. Just my Dr. Laura-inspired prejudice.

Krisann,
That address sounds right for posting letters directly to the zoo.
For anyone who would like me to pop their tributes from their children with the big crocodile at the front and have a photo taken for me to email back to individual email addresses, let me assure you - it really is no trouble at all! I shop up the coast every fortnight and it is one of the easy routes up there, (on the side of the old highway road) and it would be a 10minute thing to pull over and do.
We will be going up on the 20th of September next, a standard postage envelope costs me $2 to post to the US and it takes about a week, so if the children are doing something in the next few days as they express their grief through their creations and messages and it is posted of straight after that it should get there in time - if it turns out to be later, that's ok too - as I go up fortnightly.

This is devastating! I don't even know what to say. . .
My boys, like yours will be crushed. Today is my snake hunter's b-day. My son will be sad that Steve died on his b-day.
His family and children, too

We're sad here, too. How blessed we all are to have shared in Steve's passion for animals and his enthusiasm for sharing his knowledge.
