Wondering if anyone here read Gifted Hands by Ben Carson. Would you recommend it for a 14YO? We're studying Anatomy this year, and between the science in the book and the themes of motivation and working hard, I thought this might be a good pick. I haven't read it myself - getting the first chapter on my Kindle. Thoughts?

I've read it, but it has been a couple of years. I don't know that it necessarily covers much medicine. Dr. Carson does talk about the conjoined twins and how he planned out the surgery, etc., but the major focus is autobiographical. It is a very good read, and I cannot recall anything that would be inappropriate for a 14yo.

I just found a copy for sale at our library, and I hope to read it to my middle school age boys this year.
