Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This books in on the AO list. I crossed it off when I was originally planning a book list for the upcoming year. The problem is I don't remember why. Does anyone know why I crossed it off?       I need to figure out if I just had another book I wanted my 11 yo to read of if there was something wrong with the book. Any thoughts?

Here's an old discussion thread about the book.

Thanks Jenn! Yes, it would be fairies for the reason, lol! I was happy to download the book for free on Amazon so that I can look at it myself. Of course, there was no table of contents. I still don't completely understand what the book covers as all is told is "earth lore". More research.

Also, you can read the threads on the Ambleside Forum for the many threads discussing it...they go into more depth and reasons why that book is chosen than we do here.

It's def. one of those books that takes a lot of getting used to. I dismissed it for my older three, but have been going through it SUPER SLOWLY with dd#4 and dd#5 and it really makes us think and sparks lots of questions and discussions. It's a tough book, no doubt about it!
