Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My boys and I have been snapping wonderful pictures for our nature journals, as well as some drawing too. Today a big batch of pictures came in that we will now date and explain for our journals. I am super excited! They came out great. What a wonderful way to learn!

That's so great. Nature photography is such a beautiful art, and I really hadn't thought about doing it in the context of nature journals. I was looking today at my 11-year-old's journal from last year, in which he carefully drew and labeled a beautiful maple leaf -- and that was it, for the whole year. (this would be a mom fail, by the way . . . ).

Maybe photography would be the thing . . . everybody wants to use the camera all the time anyway.

Thanks for the good idea -- I'm so glad yours came out so beautifully.

Sally

My boys LOVE taking pictures of all sorts of things.
Dead and alive at times.......
But we have TONS of pictures. My oldest had 74 pictures just for June!
Then we worked on identification.
:-)
I even identified what type of slug they took a picture of. Kinda gross.... LOL But that is ok. It was a learning experience for us all.

My boys (mostly the oldest) didn't like drawing in nature journals so we turned to using pictures instead. I have a family scrapbook just for our pictures on our nature study days. It is the most loved scrapbook besides maybe the boys first year ones.
