Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is a rabbit trail as a result if cleaning our homeschool space..lol. (It's still not done, we spent the weekend cleaning the yard and selling stuff).

I decided that the one shelf top, won't be storage, I considered a window seat, but I am leaning toward creating a science center for dd9. She is a good student, we are done our formal school in very little time. So it leaves lots of free time. I've not directed her free time, as she was playing, crafting, reading, outside. But, I am seeing a trend of hiding away playing video games, watching tv. I want to set limits on that, but she will need alternatives.

SHE loves science... mom not so much.

I have made some science experiments 'in-a-bag' for her. Those she can do pretty much on her own. I am thinking putting the science books we have there too.

Here is where I need help. We purchased a microscope for the kids, as it was needed in their science that year. Well, it was practically a waste, as it was for one 2 minute lab, very disappointed. I want to set up a note book of microscope experiments/labs for her to do. Along with a composition book, to record her findings, observations.

I think she could have lots of fun with this, it will stimulate her brain in a positive way and reduce the screen time.

I welcome all suggestions on activities, especially those for the microscope.

I actually was googling around trying to find some simple microscope lessons for the summer and I came across The Science Spot website. I can't vouch for their ethics, since I have only briefly glanced over the site, but they do have very nice, free! microscope lessons that are basically print and use. Exactly the kind of simple plan I was looking for to use during the summer! Approach the site with discretion, but I think you might find some useful things there.

Lots of the ladies here have used and love Richard Headstrom's Adventures with a Microscope, and this thread is full of living book suggestions for supplementation.

Actually, I just ordered Adventures with a Microscope from Dover--good to hear a positive recommendation on it!
