What is your favorite gentle adhesive for adding objects to your child's nature notebook?

In the past, I've used clear contact paper, cutting out a small square to fit right over a leaf or pressed flower. I like the results of it since the delicate nature of the object is protected under the film. My oldest dd's very first nature notebook is such a treasure, and all of her leaves and pressed flowers were placed with the Contact paper method. And as I set out fresh new nature notebooks on shelves for little learners, I was wondering if you have another preferred method of adhering leaves and pressed flowers in nature notebooks besides the 'ol glue-stick-to-the-page method?

One more question which is slightly related....

For some projects, we really enjoy the look of a pressed flower that has been mod-podged, but we've only ever mod-podged directly to cardboard which we trim to size so that it fits the flower/leaf, and that isn't terribly imaginative, is it? Any recommendations for a more transparent or prettier, but still rigid surface to mod-podge pressed flowers or leaves onto? We save some of these specimens on our nature shelf, and others we display and I just know there is a prettier alternative for mod-podging a flower onto.

Jen, what about illustration board or bristol board cut into a size that would fit a frame? You could also stand the board up on a shelf for a short period of time. It would warp eventually. She could even paint the board for a background.

Bristol would be cheaper than ilustration board.

No advice on adhesives!

Jen, I hope that helps... The smooth is easier to write on, and the vellum finish has a bit more texture.

It's pretty easy to find at craft and art supply stores.

If you're going to display them (rather than add them to a nature journal), these flat canvas panels would look lovely and are warp-resistant.
