While writing my blog post for today, I introduced our new read-aloud called Adventures of Maya the Bee. This a German classic for ages 8 and up. It is the story of a little bee and her adventures in the insect world. You can also read the book free online here. I thought that some of you would enjoy this book as much as my children do.

This sounds great. It's a very timely recommendation. Just did field trip yesterday to a honey packaging facitlity and to an orchard where they had bee boxes and talked about their role in pollination and growing apples.

Ja, die Biene Maja! Do you know the TV-series, which is not as good as the book? The same author has written other nature books by the way. You might also find them at the library. Happy reading!

La Abeja Maya...we used to watch this when I was a kid in Spain. We loved it! Fun times! I didn't know it was a book. I will have to check it out!
