In my efforts to get my oldest dd's science for next year together and using MA and Ambelside as my base for suggestions we decided to go with the Fleisher five volume set. I love the idea of the slim books and they're style. During my research I ran across Great Ideas of Science Series published by the same group that put out the Fleisher books. (Fleisher has two books in this series as well).

I just got two of the ten in the mail and I'm very excited. They are written in the same style and format as Secrets of the Universe. Very gentle with lots of history and scattered experiment explanations through out.

Anyone else thinkning about these, ran into them or have an opinion? I'm thinking these will be great to use in the middle school years (intended targeted audience).
