KarenT sent me the link for this great service project to help wildlife in the gulf:
Helping dolphins and wildlife

Basically, they need washcloth and small handtowel-sized rags of soft cotton to wipe the oil off dolphins, birds, etc. You can cut these to size from old t-shirts and sheets. They also would appreciate donations of Dawn dish detergent (the best wild-life degreaser).

My kids have been cutting for two days. This is a wonderful opportunity to help.

The deadline to mail boxes is Aug 8th.

Thanks, Melinda! My kids have been perusing the World Wildlife Fund catalog for the past couple days and would appreciate a different way to help! My dd is also excited about putting her new knitting skills to work.
