Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Am I the only one who doesn't care for this book? We just started this and I'm not enjoying it at all. All the pictures and captions distact me (I can't stand reading Magic School Bus books either    ) and I think it may be a little above my almost 8 and 6 yo's.

Anyone else feel this way or have another recommendation for a book to serve as a spine for studying the human body with these ages?

Bethany, I don't have this book, but just peeked in to see what you meant. Are you saying you don't like the b&w sketch images? ETA: Are they too casual, almost indelicate?

I recently found a used copy of The Way We Work by David Macauley. I really, really like it, and it might make a great spine.

Caveat: The last chapter discusses human reproduction. While it treads carefully, it's still too much information for my young son to read on his own. I ended up cutting the chapter out of the book with an Exacto knife, which didn't mess it up too much. You could paperclip or do another approach, but this is what I chose to do. That will be treated later with parental guidance.
