Passing on some info I've recently come across.

June 13 is National Get Outdoors Day (and all of June is Great Outdoors Month). This link above has locations of the events in different states. Looks like some fun opportunities.

This is a newer annual event sponsored by various federal and non-profit organizations, to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun. The agency partners will offer sites for American families to experience traditional and non-traditional types of outdoor activities. Prime goals of the day are reaching first-time visitors to public lands and reconnecting our youth to the great outdoors.

Get Outdoors USA! for outdoor ideas.

And the National Park Service recnetly announced three Fee-Free Weekends in the National Parks. This is a wonderful opportunity if you live near a NP or will be traveling around the country those weekends.

We ... ummm ... move!

Actually, we also try to fit in lots of camping, hiking and touring around wherever we are. Dh is BIG into being outside as much as possible so we do get out and about. Cool about the fee-free weekends ... and there are so many National Parks around here!

We are spending so much time in the ocean I swear we are sprouting gills.
My advice: buy your kids some quality snorkels, masks, and fins and you will have endless hours of uninterrupted beach reading time! Or, better yet, buy some for yourself and join them!
