Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Leonie or anyone else. I pulled out some old JN that I used with my oldest when he was in middle school. Since he was close to 12 when we started the program, I was a resource person and followed his lead more or less. I'm considering using this with a younger child (9) who can never get enough science. What is the youngest that your child(ren) has enjoyed the material and can you tell me more about how you used the program?

My youngest is 12 - but I think Lissa, over at Here in the Bonny Glen shares details of using the ideas with mixed ages and with a group of other homeschoolers.

We followed the steps in the program - and each week checked the extra activities for students and teachers. We looked for library books on related topics - weather, the sun, geography, the equinox...As we gained clues of each mystery class, we chose books about the area, foods to try from that region, novels set in that area..eg one Mystery Class we suspected was in Adelalde Australia (we were right!). We re-read some books by Colin Thiele, books set in South Australia, giving us a picture of the geography ( Storm Boy) and the history
( Sun on the Stubble).

Some of the books gave us experiments to try, to illustrate concepts - like Lissa's egg equinox demonstration in the link above.

I hope this helps a bit!

I meant to write Jason Project and don't know how I came up with Journey North. We started JN a few months ago and lost track of the project because of illness. Your post is a good reminder to get back to it. Thank you for the suggestions, they have helped.
