Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What is your/your children's favorite medium for nature journaling on the go? I am going to put together backpacks to grab and go when we head outside.

I would love to pack watercolors but I can't figure out how to do that in the middle of nature without a water source.

What do you pack to journal on the go?

Tracey

Colored pencils...and if you want watercolor, you can pack watercolor pencils and then add the water when you get home.

We do the same here.

If you really, really want to paint on the nature walk, you can bring a little water in a baby food jar. That will work. That said...I just find it's a recipe for total loss of patience on my part and I encourage watercolor color pencils and embellishment at home!

Lately, we've found that we enjoy just bringing a digital camera with us to snap a photo and then journal everything back home. That means we keep a few field guides, a camera, and a water bottle to take along and that's it. It's working better this way for me now with little people who will stop and enjoy looking at something for a moment, snap a few pictures and then move on...the littles don't enjoy stopping long enough for the olders to sketch on the trail anymore.
