Just wanted to share some pictures of our family's community garden. It's really happening this time!!!
I take no laurels for this. It's a joint effort between my bil/sil, who lives next door to us, Mark and I and all our children:
A Little Seed, A Lot of Heart, and Many Hands
It really does take a family working together to pull this off. Please pray for our harvest.

What a beautiful garden! I can't wait to plant something here, but we are moving soon, so I guess this year is out . Loved the quote about a gardener's enthusiasm outlasting his back! Btw, hope your talk was a big success. I'll say a prayer to St. Fiacre for a successful harvest in your lovely garden.

Oh Cay, this is just lovely! Dh put seedlings in my bedroom window this morning, trying to take advantage of some sunlight before it starts to rain again. We are hoping for a really big garden this year. I have strawberry plants in my downstairs fridge because we aren't ready to plant them yet. I hope they make it...

Gosh, we haven't started our garden yet. That's next week's work. This year I've been so thankful that I don't like in Texas and Louisiana because I would be SOOO behind.

Jenn,
I can't take credit. My bil and husband are the real project planners and masterminds behind this. And, I feel the need to re-remind everyone, that this is a family communal project. It's not like the children and I are doing it alone.
And Mother Nature has faithfully watered it...almost perfectly so.
It has been little upkeep, really. The children and I do the weeding and wait for the harvest.
I've heard many stories of failed first-year crops so I admit that I eye our new garden with a very cynical, skeptic eye. I'm hoping God proves me wrong. I really do!
I will say, good crop or not, we've come a long way since last year.
And it's been great therapy for my bil while his wife is in the hospital...still extremely sick.

Sick of me yet?
We harvested the potatoes, onions, and beans this past weekend. Dh tilled and furrowed the rows and we now have okra, chili peppers, and banana peppers in their place.
I took pictures: Potato Harvest

Because everyone seemed to enjoy our gardening experience from Spring and Summer '09, I thought you'd like to know that we've tilled the ground and bought some new seeds for our
Garden 2010.
