I am looking for something for science for next year that I can use with three girls who will be 7, 10 and 12/13 (7th grade). I have already tried the Apologia texts with notebooking pages/lapbooks and they just didn't work well for us. I know these are creation based. I'm ok with working with that as long as its not an every-page-declaring-6-days-young earth kind of thing.

If I have to, I will put the oldest on independent science and then it should be easy enough to find any number of things on my shelf already for the other two, but this one came to my mind as a possibility to keep them together for one more year. I'm wondering how much of my time it would take and if its enough for a 7th grader? I am ok with assigning extra reading that she could do independently, but I am not up for elaborate units that would require more time from me. I'm just not at that stage with the kid's ages right now, kwim? If you have any experience with this program, good or bad, please share?

We are using the Real Science this year. So far we have completed the Biology. I am doing it with a 4th and 6th grader. I tried including my 3rd grader with us, but my dh (who has a phD in chemistry was watching us the first day) thought I was crazy because he could see that the 3rd grader was not getting it, too abstract. Dh said to drop the 3rd grader from it. Now he just listens in when he feels like it and watches the others do their labs. There is writing that goes along with it, and that was something that turned him off too. So...depending on how "deep" your 7yold is, and how you go about it, could be over the head.

Now for the 6th grader, it's just right! (Oh this all their level 1 by the way). My dh has reviewed the level 2 books and said those are real strong middle school texts. Not enough for high school.

Anyways, my little review and thumbs up for Real Science.

Another one to consider might be Noeo Science. I'm going to start a thread on that one to see how people are doing with it so far this year. We're doing the chemistry and enjoying it. It is written by Christians but leaves religion out of the science study.

We're using Noeo too. The kids love it, and ask to do Science first everyday. It is a bit above my 6yo dd sometimes (we are doing the Chem 2) but she still loves it and is learning a lot.
