Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hey, I have looked through the archives but not seen anything...

I was looking for ideas for living books, picture books etc. for a unit on birds. I will have an 8th grader, 6th grader and 3rd grader (with a little one sitting in).

Any books or resources you have enjoyed using while studying birds ??

Kristie,
Here is a list I posted in an old thread - unfortunately they aren't linked, but hopefully it will still help. It is a couple years old and I recently have found some new books I like. I'll try to add later. I'm also working on a pretty extensive unit on bird Migration that I hope to post on my blog (maybe with some incentivie to get it done for someone, I can actually do it ).

There are some good ideas intermixed in other old threads, but hard to search because there isn't a specific bird unit thread. I think the ideas that were generated for this bird camp are great ideas for studying birds in general - could easily be a unit , not a camp.

Oh, and E Naturalist website is great for lesson and activities that you could use to build a unit. Just search "bird" from their home page.

And Smithsonian's Bird Watcher is a great activity book!

Here is a unit we did on birds.

Our bird unit

Also, not sure if you enjoy lapbooks at your house, but there are a few lapbooks from homeschool share that are about specific birds - like an eagle lapbook, etc.

ETA: look at this list from HSS, there are more bird lapbooks/units than I thought there were!
