Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Last week we had an interesting experience. Arriving home after dark and smelling skunk, my dd decided to accompany her dog outside ... just in case a skunk was close by. She lets her dog out from the basement into our backyard. The dog went directly to our patio and was acting "funny". My dd was standing by our patio table which is right next to a garden full of bird feeders and ... apparently a rather large bear. She was totally unaware of the bear (which was only about four feet away from her) until it moved and her dog (a wonderful, loving yet somewhat intimidating German Shepherd) decided to chase the bear out of the yard. She treed the bear at the edge of our yard - quite the set of claw marks in the tree. We are very grateful that Kelsea was not harmed, nor her dog ... or the bear for that matter. The bear had quite a howl which sent the dog back to the house and the bear took off into the woods.
Great nature study? Kelsea said it was interesting but she would much rather have observed the bear through a window.

God Bless,
Wendi

LOL! Wendi, I am currently writing my (very late, I know) newsletter, and it includes my favorite bear story. I, too like seeing them, but not too close. Blueberries for Sal, indeed!

I'm impressed by Kelsea's fortitude...and there's nothing like a German shepherd !
