Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello, we will soon be moving to a property with 2 ponds. One is very near the house. I am wondering if anyone has a pond, and might be willing to share your safety strategies?

The backyard pond will be fenced, except one a small section of shallow "beach" area. I also plan to install high-mounted locks in the inside of all the exterior doors of the house, so that I can lock the little ones inside, if I take a shower, etc.

Lifejackets will be a must if we are working outdoors and there is a chance that we (dh and I) might be distracted and allow someone to wander from our sight....

Any other suggestions?

Trying not to have anxiety,
Shawna

A friend has a pond in her yard--and a very brave 2 year old. She has all the doors set to beep with her alarm system--even when it is off. She keeps track of entry and exit from the house in this way. Just another idea.

oh, Shawna.........I was anxious when I saw those ponds....and wondering how you were feeling about it.

I like your ideas........my sister's house has an announcement for when every door opens.......it is annoying......but definitely a good safety featuire with all of her littles........and, unfortunately every time my bil leaves for his jog at 4:30 am, I have to get up and check to see if Garrett was sleep-walking again.

let me know when we can come explore.....
