About March 29th that I spotted a duck nest with some eggs in our front garden! There is now an even dozen and "Mrs. Mallard, as our dear 4 yo daughter has come to call her, sits there very protective and still and hardly ever goes away now except in the evenings for dinner. Does anyone have any experience with when they hatch and what happens? We are moving out of the house next week and we are hoping not to miss it-what a great learning opportunity it would be!

From this article, it looks like you may have ducklings any day!! The female sits 26-30 days until they hatch. I wondered why you didn't mention a male, but the article said the males leave ("deserts the female") after a week of incubation.

I hope you family gets to see the ducklings before your move!!

Thanks for the article. Well tomorrow it'll be day 30 since I last saw the nest. So I'm hoping we'll see something! I'm also a little anxious that they'll turn out to be duds since it is a bit late. We'll see, life finds a way!
