Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Funny that I would say that when it's been getting up to 100 degrees here still! However, the last two weeks with my kids have been miserable! They have been bugging each other incessantly and just plain whiny. It dawned on me (with dh's help) that we haven't been spending hardly any time outside due to the heat. Well, I decided we'd all have to get over it or go crazy! This morning at 7:30, we went for an hour long walk. We also went to the creek near our house and found two baby frogs! I'm not a nature girl. I'm trying to become one, though! I had forgotten (how could I?) the pure delight my children have when we spend time outside. I am so looking forward to fall and cooler weather. How much time each day do your dc spend outside?

Hi Courtney,
I just came in from a morning outside with my kids. We lit a campfire up in the woods at our fire ring and spent the morning reading beside the fire. We'll probably finish our day out there as well....it's hard to get the kids inside when the weather is this gorgeous .

Normally, my kids are outside most of the day. It used to be hard for me to fit all the school work in because they kept running outside when I wasn't looking....now, I just go out with them.....kinda follow them around with books in hand .

My kids don't usually want to go outside. It has always bothered me because I remember playing outside all the time when I was a kid. This year I've started making them go out while I make lunch. I say "you have to spend 15 minutes outside, then if you want to come in you can". Well, usually in 15 minutes they have come up with some wonderful game to play or something and don't want to come in for hours! Besides just outside in the yard kind of stuff my kids do like nature hikes. When my in-laws were visiting recently the kids were just bonkers. DH finally suggested a nature hike to our local Nature Center. What a difference it made. It was also an opportunity to impress the inlaws with how well the kids do hiking and how much they already know about the plants and animals in the area.
