I'm "ready" to buy my budding naturalists some binoculars. They are 6.5 and 7.5, and I'd like to spend $20-$30 per pair. (I know they could share, but I need as little hassle as possible right now with a toddler and infant in tow!) This is mainly for watching birds, especially the elusive Hickory Nut (nuthatch) and Maury Dove (morning dove).

Anyway, any recommendations for a first pair of binoculars would be appreciated. Now I'm off to listen to my favorite composer, Shoekovsky, and eat some delicious refridgerlator pasagna. TIA

Well, they aren't what a professional would use, but Michael Olaf sells a cheap pair of binoculars ($6-7) that have lasted us 2 years without getting broken.
