Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies

I would really like to get some bird feeders for the trees in my front yard - but I have moved from Houston, Texas (swamp climate, pretty much warm year-round) to Colorado where I know that Autumn is actually upon us soon (YAY!) and winter is snowy. I am not used to a climate like this and was wondering if it is worthwhile for me to put out birdfeeders now that summer is fading. Will the birds come? I don't know much about this, but our tree tops are level with the main level of our new house and my girls love to look out and watch the birds and squirls out there!

Thanks!

Andrea-
This is prime migration time starting now and birds definitely need to feed well in order to have the energy to make it to their winter homes. Generally because food is pretty abundant now still they might not flock right away to the feeders, but if they are out as they are discovered by the birds you will get used more as the other food sources wane. Winter is when you'll see more actiivity. We don't have tons of wintering birds but there are many species that do stay here - finches, juncos, chickadees, flickers are what we see most. As this is a dry climate what they actually need more and will draw them to your feeders is a water source - we have those large terra cotta dishes for the bottom of flower pots out filled with water.

And welcome to Colorado officially - looking forward to meeting you sometime in the future.
