Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to repel the bees on the water in our pool. My dh and dc spent two days preparing the ground and getting their Intex 12 x 20 ft pool in the back yard...today they are afraid of the many bees. I want to We spent more money that expected to provide this summer activity. I was hoping to remedy this without asking dh for help...he has too many family needs to meet right now.

Oh, Tammy, how annoying! I am sorry this is becoming a problem.

We keep a net by the pool and fish them out, but it usually isn't an enormous problem. I wonder if this will subside within a few days as the bees learn to avoid the new pool.

I know this one!! We had the same trouble around our pool last year and it was a very easy fix. Get a few big squirt bottles, put about 1/4c. liquid dish soap in each then fill with water. Keep the squirt bottles around the pool area and squirt those darned bees every time you see them. It does kill them, yes, but in a short time you will have no bees at all. The bee scouts might keep coming periodically, so keep the squirter out there just in case.

Interestingly, we've had the pool open since May 1st this year and have not seen even one bee yet!

Thanks! Molly. I will definitely try the soapy water technique. I have done that inside with moths and ants

Have you thought of setting up another area to get them distracted? I know by us the only time I see bees that bad around the water is when it is so dry and they need the water to live. We do not have a pool but they come around the dogs water in droves when it is dry and there is no water for them.
It is just a suggestion. I hate to see any critter even insects pay the price.
Good luck!
Blessings
