Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Going off to our planning meeting tonight and was wondering if anyone had ideas for hands-on activities,projects or crafts that would interest 6-16yo. We want to have fun but also to make the day full of worthy activities. Our largest age group is 9-12 yo. We have been reading lots of good books and visited a planetarium. Instead of meeting once/week through June we though we'd like to make it into a bit of a camp and meet from 9-2(3) for 2 days. Our schedule will probably be (approx)
9-10 prayer, songs, team building activities;
10-12 set up different stations for projects and crafts
12-1 lunch
1-2 games (with a "space" theme)
2 gather to end the day
We have a few ideas... but you are all vessels of info...so??? Thanks in advance.
God Bless you,
Sue

Sue,
This it is a wonderful "living experiment book" - The Way the Universe Works from DK Publishing. I think you could get some great ideas for your astronomy camp from here.

I don't know if this would be good for the main age group, but perhaps the younger ones? You can make "constellation viewers" by taking a large coffee can with lid, removing the bottom of the can with a can opener and painting both can and lid black. Then take a diagram of the constellation of choice and prick it onto the lid with a pin (or nail?). Put the lid on the can, and look through--there's your constellation!
