Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Please suggest your favorite field guides. I have Comstocks' book, but it isn't all that useful for general ID'ing. I'd like guides for birds (Rocky Mountains and High Plains), bugs & insects, plants...

Thanks in advance.

OK, thanks. I gave some great referrals for birds now. Any suggestions for plants and insects? Do the Peterson guides cover those as well?

Yes, Peterson has a great assortment of field guides, and are among the best regardless of topic. (Of course, there are other good guides for specific things, like Steve Brill's book for wild edibles.)
