Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'd love to get some nice containers to set up lots of potted plants on our deck but they are so expensive! Are there any places that sell good inexpensive ones?
Any ideas?

do you know any neighbors who are avid gardeners? they usually have many more pots than they need and would be happy to loan them out

I bought some simple plastic bins for our plants, and let the girls paint them.

It made a great art activity and the girls loved making them. The paintings add color to the patio.

P.S. Don't forget to punch holes in the bottom of the bins and place a layer of rocks on the bottom of bin for drainage.

We planted summer flowers in old sand buckets, outgrown rubber boots, used easter baskets lined with cut up garbage bags, and other fun summer containers. We have a huge woden deck and there are boots and buckets full of petunies, pansies, zinnias hanging and sitting all around it...it's so cute and the kids loved it. It looks like we're decorated for a backyard party.

If you have IKEA near, they have lovely terra cota pots reasonably prices.

I like using uncommon sources, ie the beforementioned boots, also tires, and plant trailing flowers to cover over the rubber.   Look around you will find amazing containers you never thought of as planters. If you like do what Cay mentioned and paint away. Or leave them be, it looks eclectic, and seasoned!!!   Have fun!

Ok I found some good deals at walmart and have been visiting some garage sales and the goodwill too. I have to get heavy planters as it is sooo windy here! (kansas!) and I am putting them up on my balcony deck so I don't want things falling in the wind too easily.

We made a few pots the other day, I just hope I am not putting too much soil or plants in them. i guess we will see how it goes! Trial and Error. :)
