Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

If making a Mary Garden is not enough, I just bought a copy of Healing Plants of the Bible: History, Lore & Meditations by Vincenzina Krymow, the author of the splendid book Mary's Flowers: Gardens, Legends, and Meditations.

It is really fabulous. The meditations are written by a Schoenstatt sister and are just beautiful, many of them entering in the spirit of the Gospel related to the certain plant.

At first glance I thought it would be many plants that are only native to the Old Testament and the Holy Land, but thumbing through the list of plants is accessible, in our daily life and/or mentioned often in our Liturgy and prayers. There is some WONDERFUL material just for Holy Week, with the herbs, spices, incense, bitter herbs, figs, date palm, grapevine...

It was printed in 2002, about the same year as Mary's Gardens, so why haven't I heard of it until now?

More to incorporate when planning my garden!

Thanks for the reference, Jenn! This sounds like a really great book.
