I am worried/concerened about Child Protective Services knocking on the door:
Today I was in a public school office and ran into a lady I had not seen in at least two years - after greetings she asked about why I was there (I had my children in private catholic school last time I saw her)and I had told her, she asked about the kids and long story short, her finding out they are homeschooled obviously shocked her. She had started to ask inapropriate questions about why I do not have them in catholic school and why I did not like the public school - right in the office, in front of the secretary and principal.......I had informed her that it is not about the schools but that this is a good decision for our family, I do have two asthmatic children and one pretty serious and she remembered this and assumed that is why they are all home. So I went with that and we talked about their health, we just so happened to be the the ER again with my daughter yesterday so I brought that up.....
Anyway, the way she questioned and what I know of her I do fear she will call protective services. I felt like I had a pretty good relationship with the school but this may have done some damage - I can only imagine the conversation after I walked out the door.
This woman is a "talker" and I am afraid that she may find some reason to call the authorities and I am also concerned about our relationship with the school.
I imagine other home school parents are concerned about someone calling the authorities and I know some of you have had calls.
Please pray that we do not have any visits from child services.
Thank you,
StacyLynn

StacyLynn, I will be praying, hopefully you have nothing to worry about with this person. And even if they do knock at your door, you still have nothing to worry about! :) I'm a bit nervous myself, as I had to take my 4 year old to the ER last week for stitches too, this is just 4 weeks after taking my 7 year old in for stitches.

I am always very happy because we are protected by HSLDA. Have you checked into this option?

We do belong the HSLDA and it is such a releif to me to have them.
The situation today was so uncomfortable and such a big deal was made out of not having them in school. Knowing what I know about this lady and the way she talks about others just has my guard up.
The school has pressured us before about getting the kids to attend and teachers have tried to lure my children into their class just to "see what they are missing".
I had finally felt like we were in a posititon of understanding with each other.
My husband says I need to not worry and just trust God will protect us.
So, I am praying.
StacyLynn

I will pray, StacyLynn! I hate that kind of stuff. Good, powerful means of gaining grace, though!

StacyLynn -
I am praying that your fears do not become realities. People like the woman you ran into have a way of setting your nerves on edge, I know. But please try to stop the thoughts; what we can imagine/worry about is often scarier than what really turns out happening.
Peace,
Nancy

Dear StacyLynn,
I will pray for your intentions. We had SS come to our door last month. My neighbor accused us of child neglet beacause my kids are too thin. This is very scary. I'm so sorry that you have to worry about this. You're in my prayers.
God bless you.

StacyLynn, I will pray for the situation and your peace of mind. It's hard when we feel so vulnerable.

I am so sorry you are going through this StacyLynn. It is a good idea to join HSLDA, but do not worry! Everything is going to be fine.
Praying for you.
