Hi Everyone,
I had my first OB appt yesterday, I am 9 weeks today....and it was a little anxiety provoking. Visits to the doctor are ALWAYS anxiety provoking for me. I truly think I have post traumatic stress over such things. I have had so many "extreme" experiences surrounding my OB history,(including, but not limited to..... a 14 week abruption from a fall, an 18 week loss, a few really mismanaged deliveries, and a disasterous home delivery)...not to burden you with all of that, and not to say, "poor me", but I really need some prayers, and I am humbly asking for yours.
When I went yesterday, my BP was very high. They were freaking out, even though I told them it was "white coat syndrome" and it is fine at home. I knew that would happen, and have been taking it at home as well. They want me to come back next week, and get it rechecked, (duh, it'll be REALLY high again!! ) and she said they'll probably put me on BP meds. Although, if my BP stays down at home, she might consider delaying that....I felt like saying," I was just fine until I walked in here!!" I hate being "high risk"....erggg!
Sorry to ramble, but can I ask you to pray for less anxiety for me and a healthy baby with a good delivery? I know we can pray for specific things, along with praying for the grace to get through whatever it is God, in HIS perfect plan, has in store for us. My boys are amazing, I can't imagine not having any of them, and would go through everything again for each of them.....I guess I am just a little battle weary, and need some prayers.
I should carry Our Lady of Guadalupe's words to Juan Diego, around my neck...."am I not your Mother?" (edit) meaning...I need to remember not to be anxious over ANYTHING, SHE is here with us at all times. Anxiety, though, is so unreasonable sometimes!!!
Thanks all, and God Bless,
4 Lads' Mom with due in Sept and 2 in Heaven

I will definitely pray for you and your precious one. I understand why they're so concerned about BP. Are you keeping a log of your at-home readings? that might help convince them it's "white-coat."

Praying for peace and calm. I know how hard that is. Drink lots of water and eat plenty of protein.

I can totally relate to your experience! The same thing happened to me during my last pregnancy. I was at the clinic for an appointment one time and they kept checking my bp - everytime they took it it, it went up. Fianlly, they took me in a wheelchair to the OB floor of the hospital. When I got there, they were more relaxed. I broke down in tears and told them that I suffer from panic & anxiety. My bp dropped way back down to normal and they let me go home after a couple hours. I needed to check my bp and log it at home from then on. Everytime I set foot into the clinic my bp skyrocketed. They didn't check it again until delivery time. I just brought in my bp log to all my appts. I prayed to have acceptable bps for delivery. The Lord answered my prayers. The time I spend in the hospital is always anxiety provoking for me. My bps stay above normal until I return home. I then get my normal 110/60 readings.
I'm just about 9 weeks along now, and have been doing pressures about twice a week so I have my "normal" log to show them at the clinic.
I will keep you in my prayers and I ask for yours also. We can be "white-coat syndrome" bp buddies!

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers...Kris, I could hug you. That is EXACTLY what I go through....it is maddening because I think if I pray enough or take enough deep breaths or whatever, it will make my BP go down, and it doesn't!!! My BP has at times been borderline at home, like high normal...but once I got pregnant it went way down for me, I was thrilled!! It is a humbling experience to cry and say, "I am scared half to death!!" in the doctor's office. I have a lot of empathy for my kiddos. I read about others crosses and I am humbled as well.....but like I said before, fear and anxiety just won't be REASONABLE sometimes!!!
God Bless, Everyone!!

I forgot to mention that I hate going to the doc, too. I put it off for as long as I can until my husband makes me go. I try to offer it up as part of the whole shebang.....of what I am going through for the sake of these children. Wanted you to know you are not alone.
