Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Some friends from the Anglican parish that we recently left have really been on my heart lately. What's a good novena for me to pray for them? (with the hope that one day they too would come in to the fullness of the Catholic Church)

Thank you!

Dear Martha,

There is a Novena for Church Unitythat begins on St. Peter's Chair (February 22).

The unification of all Christians is a special prayer project of mine as well. We lived for 3 years in England and I have a special place in my heart for Anglicans. I come from a Protestant background, I chose Catholicism as a child and was baptised at 12 years old...

Thank you Nissa. Can this be prayed anytime of the year or only in February? Please excuse the newbie questions.

I was looking for something I can pray anytime and often.

I don't see any reason you couldn't pray it anytime! It's just that St Peter's chair is traditionally the day of prayer for Unity... The more Unity Prayers that rise to Heaven, the better!

Hi Martha,

Another idea for a novena, would be The Divine Mercy Novena.

There are different intentions for each of the nine days with the fifth day being specifically for our separated brethren:

Fifth Day intentions:

"Today bring to Me the Souls of those who have separated themselves from My Church, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion."

Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son's Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen."

Your friends and their intentions will be in my prayers!

This is beautiful. Thank you. Although I must say these different forms of prayer are all very confusing for me.
