My dear friend has been battling cancer for the last year and 2 months ago the doctors gave her 1 to 2 weeks to live. Miraculously, she is still alive. They sent her home from the hospital with hospice care and a drainage tube, which came out 2 weeks ago. She hasn't eaten in almost 3 weeks. This morning she started bleeding rectally, pretty heavily. Her husband called the paramedics and she is now on her way to the hospital. She is only 45 years old and has an 11 year old and 13 year old daughter, and a 19 year old son. Her husband is not Catholic. She is offering this up for his conversion.

I will ask Elisabeh Leseur for her intercession........she KNOWS about dying a slow death from cancer, and leaving a non-Catholic dh.......who eventually became a priest!

Here is an update I got this morning. Thanks for all your prayers. They are definately working.
Much better news this evening. Ida was taken to the E.R. last night and had a very tough night. She had been on Coumadin (a blood thinner) at MCV and they kept her on it when she returned home. However, since none of the medical personnel expected her to last this long, no testing was done as to how thin her blood was getting. My understanding is that normal blood is supposed to be in the "2" range. By the time Ida got to the hospital hers was "18" and because she'd lost so much blood they couldn't even get a blood pressure reading. They put her in ICU and gave her blood and Vitamin K and finally got her stabilized and bleeding stopped. This afternoon she was moved back into a regular hospital room and if she continues to improve will be allowed to go back home tomorrow.
The other good news is that she is off the morphine drip tube also and does not seem to be in any pain. When I saw her this evening she was awake and aware pretty much the whole 1 1/2 hrs I was there-longer than in the last several weeks. She's a bit groggy still, but much better than yesterday. Her color and a little bit of strength seemed to be coming back also. She was very very weak yesterday.
Bob and Ida are so appreciative of all your prayers. They know it is what keeps her (and him) going. Please continue to remember them in your prayers.

One more update:
Looks like at least one minor miracle has happened -everyone at the hospital apparently got their stuff together and Bob and Ida are on the way home tonight.
