Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was hoping I could ask you ladies for some prayers. I am 26 weeks pregnant, and have developed kidney stones in my left kidney. I was in the hospital last Thursday for 18 hours being hydrated, however, the stone still has not passed. I'm in some pretty serious pain and there's not a whole lot that can be done because of the pregnancy. So I thought I would turn to you wonderful ladies for some prayers that this stone passes quickly and easily. Because of course my 2 little men running around don't understand why their mommy just wants to lay down and cry Thank you for any prayers you can send up for me.

Oh Cindy dear I am SO sorry you are having this. I had kidney stones (3 - but only passed 2) when I was pregnant with my first dd, 10 years ago.

I passed one at home (with much pain!) but had to be hospitalized for the other. They were able to give me Demerol (I was 25 weeks) which helped with the pain (though it wore off before I was allowed another dose - still it helped) and eventually I passed the other stone.

The third stone disappeared on it's own but I did some research and found magnesium to be useful in dissolving them. I don't know if that's what did it but I haven't had one since. Also, lay off the calcium if you are taking any. It will aggravate and cause stones. I was taking extra calcium for leg cramps and my urologist told me to stop and it helped.

If you get to the point that the pain is so bad you start vomiting please call your dr. and get the the emergency room right away. It may take IV fluids to get relief, and they CAN give you Demerol - it is safe. My dd was born completely healthy and is a very bright and happy 10 yr. old today.

You will certainly be in my prayers as I know this pain is even worse than labor!

God bless,

Praying Cindy. I had a kidney stone two and a half months ago (just two weeks after our new baby was born). I was in so much pain that I thought I might actually die (and I am saying this without any trace of exaggeration. I had never had a stone before, and the pain came on so suddenly and so unrelentingly that I thought it was something life threatening.

So sorry you are going through this during a pregnancy. I will be praying for you and thinking of you.

Thank you for all of your prayers. Just wanted to give you a quick update with what I know so far. On Monday afternoon I actually felt as horrible as I did on Thursday night - and that was even after taking Vicodin!    The pain eventually subsided. I went to see the urologist this morning, and she basically told me that I need to "hold on" until I have the baby. The only thing they can do if it gets much worse is to put in a stent - which I would rather avoid since everything I've read about them says that the stent hurts almost as much as the stone!

So basically I'm in wait and see mode here. I had lithotripsy done on a stone almost 2 years ago - about 3 weeks after having a c-section. Here's hoping that this one just passes quickly and I don't have to undergo another procedure. Thanks again for all of your prayers - I definitley feel them!

Continuing to pray, Cindy. Thank you for taking the time to post this update, because you've been on my mind.

I just talked to Cindy. The stone is 5mm . She's in the hospital and the plan is to put a stent in tomorrow morning. The baby looks great. Prayers are very much appreciated.

Thanks for the update, Elizabeth. I've really been thinking about Cindy. My dad had kidney stones and the initial scare and all the pain brought the tough guy to his knees . Prayers continue...
