When it rains, it pours.
We were on our way to visit family in Arizona when the alternator belt broke. We were almost to Las Cruces when the lights got dimmer and dimmer. We were still able to drive but had no lights.
A very nice police officer pulled us over but that made matters worse because we then had no power to make the car go. It was running but barely moving.
We made it to the next exit going about 5 mph. We had to stop for one light and two stop signs. Each time the car went slower and slower. We came to a hill and it stopped.
John had to drive because he just had surgery, so Cris, Emily, Katie, and I pushed while Julia tended Sam and Jack. We pushed it over the hill and let it coast until it stopped then pushed it, let it coast, pushed it and let it coast all the way to the Super 8 Motel.
So here we sit, all of us in one room with two beds, until we can get an alternator belt in the morning. To top it off I am having a mild asthma attack and someone took my inhaler out of my purse. I am drinking coffee to help but that will keep me and Jack awake tonight.
On to my prayer request...
Please say a quick prayer that my asthma attack goes away on its own and that we can get the car repaired inexpensively first thing in the morning and if it isn't too much trouble could you add one about a safe, uneventful rest of the journey (both directions)?
Thank you!
Blessings,
Krisan

Krisann,
I'm praying now- we had the same kind of trouble on our last road trip. Iknow you are anxious now- but know that in a couple months it may seem funny. And your kids will remember the trip for a long time!

Praying Krisann. I had an alternator belt break and leave me stranded once; but, I didn't have family with me or added stressors.

We had the engine of our car go out on one famiy vacation. It turned out to be a great vacation. We weren't planning on stopping in Chicago for five days while they put a new engine in our car, but then we never would have seen Chicago. I will pray that you feel better and that God uses the opportunity to bless you with some good memories.

Cris just called from the mechanic and told us to get ready to go so I am guessing the suburban is fixed.
Thank you for your prayers! We should be on our way shortly.
Blessings,
Krisann

Well, we made it to AZ but not without more drama.
We hit a puppy in Road Forks, NM. The owner had just let him out a few minutes before and he wandered out into the road. Cris slowed way down and tried to go around it but it came back and we hit it with the tire.
I know her foot was severely broken and she possibly had a dislocated shoulder. The owner was going to rush her to a vet in Deming. I pray that she is ok.
Other than that things are going much better. We are busy making the corn tamales. YUM!!
We head back home on Wednesday very early. We have to drive John to the airport in El Paso, TX by 10 AM and then head back to Roswell.
Thank you again for your prayers.
Blessings,
Krisann

Mmmm....love those homemade tamales! I grew up in Tucson and my family still lives in AZ - Sonoita and Phoenix.
Praying that the remainder goes well.
Blessings,
Sharie
