My parents are in a desperate situation, seriously considering divorce. I will spare you the details, except to say that we are a bit shocked as they have recently come back together after a brief separation and things truly seemed better. They, mostly my mom, refuse to seek council from a priest or even marriage counselour and will not consider Retrouvaille. After a visit from my mom yesterday (and years of 'interesting' behavior), I believe there are some mental health issues in play.
I asked my siblings to pray to St. Joseph, specifically, for my dad to stay committed to the marriage, especially if the mental health issues are recognized. I've asked him to please stay in their home (my mom is the one who wants to 'sever' the relationship - her words), but I don't know if my dad is strong or faithful enough at this point.
I've said too much, probably. I know you dear friends will pray. They will, with a miracle, celebrate 40 years of marriage in November.

Erica,
My mom and dad divorced about 3 years ago after a brief reconcilliation following a separation. I've been amazed at how difficult it was to deal with as an adult--I thought it wouldn't bother me so much since I'm grown-up and have my own family. Anyway, it's been very painful for our whole family and we're still dealing with the fallout.
I'll be praying that your mom and dad reconcile--and if you need to talk to another 'adult child of divorce,' feel free to pm.

Big hugs! My parents had a really rocky time, with many separations, and reconciliations. They divorced for a few years, and then reconciled...and have stayed together. In the Church's eyes, the marriage is not ended with divorce!
But for them to get back together, that was just the grace of God. It's so hard on the children, whatever the age!
I will keep your family in my prayers.
